Want to see what we eat on the Odyssey? It’s all here in videos from two of our friends onboard from the Youtube channel Living Life on a Cruise.
We knew Lanette and Johan online before we finally met in person during our time in Belfast. Below are two of their videos: the first shows what they have on the Deck 6 buffet for breakfast, lunch, snack time, and dinner, as well as the Deck 4 sit-down restaurant for dinner (17-1/2 minutes):
The second video is a tour of the food-prep areas — the galley. Kit and I also got a tour of that, but I didn’t shoot video. Still, I can include just a few of my photos here as an intermission:

Next, back to Lanette and Johan’s tour of the galley on Deck 3. How do the waiters get between the restaurants and the galleys? By escalator! Except they don’t use moving stairs, but rather a ramp so they can easily walk if they wish to move faster. The second video is 28-1/2 minutes:
Definitely check out their Youtube channel Living Life on a Cruise to see examples of cabins, ship tours, and destinations we’ve been to.

YES! This is what I’ve been wondering about! Hearing people talk about the food is one thing. Seeing the food, and where it’s made!, is so much more interesting. Thank you so much for this!
I remember the old Braemar galley (now Odyssey) as I was the covering exec chef.

Ah! I guess it all looks quite familiar to you, then. (For others: we bought the Braemar from U.K.’s Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.) -rc
Interesting. We’ve been wondering about the food variety. Hopefully it is good quality too. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I went on a large cruise ship once and took the ship’s tour. I love seeing institutional food prep areas, (yeah, plus engines etc). This ship looks so well run and clean. How about an engine room, control room, bridge tour?
—
We’ve been on the bridge, but have so far missed the time slots for the engine control room. I’m sure there will be many more opportunities for that. Engine room is apparently not available for tours. -rc
Very interesting. The galley tour was exceptional. I can understand just from the complexity of the kitchen how long the refurbishment of the Odyssey could take even without considering the mechanical systems, controls, and propulsion systems. No wonder you had such a long start in Belfast.
