Editor’s Note: We aren’t always in port: we need time to get to the next port, which can take a day …or more. As you’ll see in a minute, that’s not boring for us, but rather a welcome time of rest. But first, we popped back up to Spain to pick up spare parts before touching the African continent again. -rc

The Rock
Going to the highest point in town is something I love to do in my travels. I’ve taken cars, cable cars, trams, and elevators to the top — and of course I’ve walked. As we sailed into the Gibraltar harbor on October 20, that memory came to mind, acting as an inspiration to scale that high point, that point known as The Rock of Gibraltar.
Ports of Call: Off to Africa
Editor’s Note: Columnist Marti Eicholz reports on the ports we visit. Click her byline for a list of her columns. I still think every 10 days or so will be the right pace for these, but we’re already far enough behind that I’ll pick up the pace here and there when needed. -rc
Ports of Call: Getting Our Sea Legs
Editor’s Note: We have a new columnist! We met Marti Eicholz on our way across the Atlantic in April before cooling our heels for four months in Belfast. We quickly became friends, and once we got going she started to write for her friends about the interesting ports we were visiting. I asked Marti if we could give her evocative writing a larger audience, and I was pleased she said yes.
BBC Documentary: The Never-Ending Cruise Story
“The round the world cruise that was stranded in Belfast. After months of delays, the ship finally set sail. Find out how the passengers stayed upbeat while their trip of a lifetime started with the stress of being stuck in Northern Ireland. We hear from those who are calling the cruise home for the next three years.” —BBC
The First Weeks as Residential Cruisers
I continue to get interview requests from the media. This one came in by email two days ago, but thankfully was told that my deadline was “in the next couple of days,” so hopefully this is good: I just hit Send on my reply, and now I’ll format it up into a post here. 🙂
The Troubles
Residential Cruising means full-time travel, and I knew I’d learn things and get new perspectives from travel, which is A Good Thing. That started before we even boarded our ship.
