Editor’s Note: For many, the Panama Canal is a bucket list item. This is what it’s like, in three main steps: staging in Colón, the actual Canal transit, and regrouping in Panama City. Panama is so much more than just the Canal. -rc

Ports of Call: to the Panama Canal
Before we head into Panama and the Canal, we stop by the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, with a special event along the way.
Ports of Call: to the BVI
Visiting Guadeloupe, Antigua, St. Kitts, Sint Maartin, and Tortola (BVI) on our way across the Caribbean.
Ports of Call: the Smaller Islands
Visiting Saint Lucia, Martinique (site of the deadliest volcanic eruption of the 20th century), and Dominica.
Ports of Call: Off to the Caribbean
A full-week’s crossing was a breeze. Then into the Caribbean, starting with Barbados and Grenada.
Ports of Call: Before the Crossing
Editor’s Note: After Morocco, there are only a few stops before crossing to the Caribbean, so let’s get started with what Marti found along the way. (P.S.: the company has sent most of the marketing crew home to work, so no more videos for awhile, dang it! But Kit and I do take photos, so I’ll continue to illustrate Marti’s work with examples.) -rc
Ports of Call: Finishing Africa (for now)
Editor’s Note: We aren’t always in port: we need time to get to the next port, which can take a day …or more. As you’ll see in a minute, that’s not boring for us, but rather a welcome time of rest. But first, we popped back up to Spain to pick up spare parts before touching the African continent again. -rc
Ports of Call: Off to Africa
Editor’s Note: Columnist Marti Eicholz reports on the ports we visit. Click her byline for a list of her columns. I still think every 10 days or so will be the right pace for these, but we’re already far enough behind that I’ll pick up the pace here and there when needed. -rc
Ports of Call: Getting Our Sea Legs
Editor’s Note: We have a new columnist! We met Marti Eicholz on our way across the Atlantic in April before cooling our heels for four months in Belfast. We quickly became friends, and once we got going she started to write for her friends about the interesting ports we were visiting. I asked Marti if we could give her evocative writing a larger audience, and I was pleased she said yes.
